Mark 12:28-44 Two more interactions with religious leaders. One about taxes and the other about which commandment is most important. They ask Jesus what is the greatest commandment. He quotes the Shemma of Deut 6 and calls them to love God and love their neighbor. One of the scribes actually agrees with Jesus and Jesus says, you are not far from the kingdom of God. Both stories call all people to put God and love for him and others above all other earthly relationships and allegiances. This kind of love and commitment was not being modeled by the Scribes but will mark a new community of people who are all in for Him!
