On Wednesday evenings this winter we have three Bible Study options available … spend some time in prayer to determine if this is where God wants to transform you this winter.
OPTION 1:
SERMON ON THE MOUNT
Author: Jen Wilkin
Led by: Nancy Kawaguchi
What does it mean to be a citizen of the kingdom of Heaven? In His sweeping depiction of kingdom citizenship, Jesus utters some of the most familiar passages in all of Scripture. Most of us have only encountered the Sermon on the Mount in fragments, considering its subdivisions as complete teachings in their own right, but what if we navigated these three chapters in Matthew as they were originally heard: as one cohesive, well-ordered message, intended to challenge us to think differently about what it means to be a follower of Jesus? Come and learn from Jesus, just as his disciples did.
OPTION 2:
Forgiven and Set Free
Author: Linda Cochrane
Led by: Christie Eckert
Hi – I’m Christie Eckert. I used to sit in the church pews suffering in silence with guilt, shame, and grief from an abortion I had when I was 18 years old. I struggled with forgiving myself and with accepting that God really had forgiven me. I prayed for an opportunity for God to use me for His glory and to give what I had been through a purpose. I started volunteering at my local crisis pregnancy clinic. Before I could go through counselor training, I participated in a Bible study, “Forgiven and Set Free” by Linda Cochrane. The impact of this study was life changing. I met other women who were suffering just like me. All our stories were different but we were able to empathize and support each other and grow in our walks with the Lord. Are you one of us? God does not want you suffering in silence. He wants you to know His redeeming grace and to find lasting healing. This study walks us through issues such as relief, denial, anger, forgiveness, depression, letting go, and acceptance using God’s Word.
OPTION 3:
Building A Marriage That Really Works
Author: Kay Arthur and David Lawson
Led by: Kim Oldfield
If you are newly married or have been married a while now, it’s always good to stop and take inventory of your marriage relationship. Be it you’re in a good place or maybe you’re having some difficulties. This is a 7 week study with no homework. We will work through the study as a class and have discussion/teaching time each week. We will be looking into God’s view on the institute of marriage and His will and purpose of such a beautiful shadow of the relationship He desires us to have with Him. We will look at scripture and discover biblical wisdom for pursuing harmony in this relationship. Even in the most difficult areas such as finances, communication, intimacy, and respect for each other’s roles as well. Prayer is the foundation of your marriage and you will learn how to grow deeper in praying not just for your spouse but also with your spouse.
